Bengal Film and Television Chamber of Commerce is an ideal platform which not only showcases new talents but also is an ideal podium for short films with finesse and promise. Another attraction of the event also lies in the fact that it brings the ‘showbiz’ of Bengal and Bangladesh, together!
The year 2018 being the 3rd year of this prestigious award function, many luminaries were seen gracing the occasion which took place from the 7th till the 11th of May, 2018. Flanked by stars such as Soumitra Chatterjee, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Paoli Dam, Brattya Basu, Gargee Roy Choudhury, Kaushik Sen and Riddhi Sen among others, it was indeed a major star-studded affair. Alamgir Hossain the acclaimed director-actor from Bangladesh was truly overwhelmed after having received the prestigious Raj Razzak award. He was overtly emotional as his first movie was with Mr. Raj Razzak, himself. Prosenjit Chatterjee also went gaga when asked about Raj Razzak with whom he had worked in many projects.
Soumitra Chatterjee was conferred the Hiralal Sen Award. The new kid in the block- the superbly talented Riddhi Sen was felicitated as well for his stupendous performance in Kaushik Ganguly’s, ‘Nagar Kirtan’ which is riding high after bagging the national award. Director Atanu Ghosh was awarded for ‘Mayurakshi’ being judged the best film.
Producer Shrikant Mohta and eminent director Buddhadeb Dasgupta were also felicitated as well. The award show being on its 3rd year has already garnered much admiration and accolades-thanks to the film fraternity who were conspicuous with their presence at the do. Young and old, new and veterans all enjoyed the warmth and the love being showered uniformly and we hope that in the coming years too BFTCC will keep on emanating its ‘charisma’, like it did in the previous years!
