Ram Kamal Mukherjee Brings Back The Nostalgia of Narendra Mitra’s Stories by Abhinoy!

After directing short film Cakewalk and Season’s Greetings, the author turned director Ram Kamal Mukherjee is all set to co-direct Bengali short feature film ‘Abhinoy’ with Abhra Chakraborty. The film is based on Narendranath Mitra’s short story AbhinetriNarendranath Mitra popularly known for his soul-stirring short story Mahanagar, which was adapted by Satyajit Ray and Ras adapted on screen for Hindi film Saudagar. While the first marked Jaya Bachchan’s Bengali debut, the second remains one of the most popular acclaimed films of Amitabh Bachchan. Almost after half a century, director Ram Kamal Mukherjee will bring back Mitra’s work on screen with his Bengali directorial debut Abhinoy.

The film deals with ordeals of journalists, actors, and people who live in this city with dreams in their eyes. The film will be co-directed by Abhra Chakraborty and produced by Aritra Das, Shailendra Kumar & Sheik Nasim Akhtar under the banner of Assorted Motion Pictures and SS1 Entertainments. There are three male protagonists in the film, who are from Bengali film industry. And the female lead character will perform by a fresh face. The poster of the film has been designed by artist Pallabi Nandan and has fetched good response on social media. The lyrics of the film have been written by famous TV anchor and writer Sujoyneel Bandhopadhyay. We hope that this will be a great Bengali debut for Indian film journalist and critic Ram Kamal Mukherjee.
