Bengali short film Bisorjito depicts the journey of a woman who is a mother, a wife and a fighter which is slowly unraveled as the movie graduates.
Mongola is a simple house holder residing in a village with her son and husband. Haru, Mongola’s husband has lost his job a few months back and finding no other alternative, starts borrowing money to make ends meet. Repeated threats and warnings from the money lender for clearing his debts make Haru’s life miserable who succumbs to immense agony and pain and dies an untimely death!
Arrives the evil and the lecherous money lender and the oppression of the powerful on the deprived and the weak,
commences. Shuvankar befriends and lures Mongola by assuring to marry her and taking her son’s entire responsibility. A crestfallen Mongola relies on his false promises and falls prey to the corrupt and salacious intention of the man who symbolizes the universal tyranny and coercion of the wealthy over the downtrodden and destitute.
Directed by Sutirtha Chatterjee, Bisorjito aptly paints the perils and helplessness of a widow, her trudging the wrong path, her ultimate realization and avenging the wrong doings on her at the end.
