Rabindrasangeet needs no introduction. These treasure trove of compositions by Rabindra Nath Tagore have since their inception been recognized as a different genre of Music that continues to inspire generations. All the gems have till now been confined to their Bengali original by legends as Suchitra Mitra / Hemant Kumar and many others. Kudos goes to the leading music brands of Bengal, Asha Audio for this attempt in presenting the Rabindrasangeet in Hindi version, ‘Sawan Ke Dhun‘. It is difficult to recreate the ethos and ambiance of Rabindrasangeet in Hindi, for the nuances of these melodies are typical to the Bengali language. Nonetheless, the efforts have been worthwhile.
The songs from which the song ‘Sawan Ke Dhun‘ has been adapted are Srabonero Gaganero Gaye & Aji Jhoro Jhoro mixed with Raag Malhar. The song, sung brilliantly by little singing stars Ranita Banerjee, Ahiri Mukherjee, Aditi Ghosh, and Shaoni Sen is very soothing to ears and you feel so relaxed when you listen to it. Subrata Bose and Ayan Banerjee are given the duty to arrange the music for the song. The choreography is done by Sukanto Chatterjee and the editing by Hiranmay Biswas. The song would certainly enchant and introduce to the Rabindrasangeet who are not acquainted with it. Overall, the song is distinctive and original, and I think it has strong commercial potential.
