Wherever Bengali’s go they take Maa Durga along with them. Durga puja is the core essence of Bengali culture and celebrations. Valley Bengali Community, (VBC) a Bengali community in Los Angeles, USA has kept alive the flavors of Durga Puja in their hometown away from home (India). They try to provide the “Parar Pujo” feel to the local community where all can come and participate during the blissful three days of the Durga Puja!
Festivities cannot be without its dose of entertainment and VBC has taken care of that aspect as well. On 23rd September they have lined up programs where local dance group Tarana will present Indian fusion and Bollywood filmy dance forms and also a special performance by Kids to celebrate the Durga Puja. Singers Jayanta Roy and Vidya will be presenting Kishore Kumar’s evergreen songs while ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ famed Kinjal Chatterjee will be lighting up the evening through contemporary popular Hindi songs. On 24th September, Gourab Sarkar will take the audiences through the nostalgic era of Hemanta Mukherjee, Manna Dey and Salil Chowdhury while Lagnajita Chakraborty will entertain the audiences through her versatile singing.
It is heart warming to know that our culture is being preserved even in distant foreign lands and we are thankful to communities like VBC who are the real flag bearers of this cultural preservation. Tollytrip congratulates them for keeping the flavors of Durga Puja intact in Los Angeles and wish them all the very best for their future endeavors as well. Bengali’s are proud of them.
