Holi is also known by the name of Dol Purnima in West Bengal. The festival is also known as ‘Dol Jatra‘, ‘Dol Purnima‘ or the ‘Swing Festival‘. The festival is celebrated in a dignified manner by placing the idols of lord Krishna and Radha on a picturesquely decorated palanquin which is then taken around the main streets of the city. The devotees take turns to swing them while women dance around the swing and sing devotional songs. Throughout the procession men keep spraying colored water and color powder, ‘abeer’ at them. In this occasion, a group of very talented people were indulged in a fantastic photo shoot called “Ronger Choa”, a love story between tow hearts. The faces of the shoot were Abhishek Roy & Chandrayee Sil. The styling was done by Souvick Ram. This cover is presented by Arpan Bhowmick & the photography was done by Rajesh Show and Saikat Biswas was seen assisting him. The retouch was done by Ami Naha and Shatadeep Biswas was behind the words.
“Our first meeting was in spring, before Dol at Jorasanko The Dol Utsav was there, you were with your friend, and I was with mine, with their help only I could talk to you first. It was a yellowish saree, not basanti. There were three or four petals of palash on one side of the ear, it was the most eye-catching thing I have seen. The kajal in your eyes and the ruporanga jhumko made me feel for you,,! Then sending a friend request to Facebook and some chat here & there. Then one day a meeting at a coffee shop, a complete year passed like that. Again we met at the Jorasankoo in the last spring, on the way back, I gave a note to your hand where it was written: “I want to spend not only spring but all the seasons of my life holding your hand …. Will you give it to me …” You called me after a whole year in next spring but yet our friendship hasn’t mellowed. After calling today, I went to her with drumbeats in my chest, as she said, wearing white Punjabi, and she put aabir on my face before saying “I Love You”. She will run and I will catch her to put aabir on her cheeks. A cuckoo sang from a distance, a song of not just spring, but spending all the seasons together.”
Celebrate this Dol with full enthusiasm and courage, As this is the festival of forgetting all the differences And get together. Wish the colors of Dol paint your life with brightness and wipe out all that is sad and dull. Tollytrip wishes you and your family all the bright hues of life. Have a colorful Dol!
