The trailer of Manikarnika is out now. Starring Kangana Ranaut, it’s one of the most awaited movies of 2019. The trailer starts with the people of Jhansi worrying how the British are planning to take over their city. Kangana Ranaut as the fearless queen – Rani Laxmi Bai comes in to get things done for her city and country. The story revolves around the brave life of Jhansi Ki Rani and how she set an example for every Indian to hold their courage. Letting her swords do the talking, Kangana portrays the femininity and grit of Jhansi’s most celebrated and historical queen who went to all ends to protect her kingdom from the evil British troops. There is so much of the talented actress’ efforts to appear queenly, the trailer barely offers a glimpse of the impressive supporting cast, namely Danny Denzongpa, Atul Kulkarni, Suresh Oberoi and others who flit by in this steamroller view of a woman warrior’s day-out binge. Bengali film actor Jisshu Sengupta has a very vital role in the film. Threadbare thunder in a fancy teacup. The period action drama has also been co-directed by Ranaut (she shares the director credit with Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi aka Krish, who left the project half way to take up the NTR biopic ) and is scheduled to release on 25 January, 2019. Manikarnika will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in over 4000 screens worldwide, which will include the IMAX format according to its producers Zee Studios and Kamal Jain.
