After back to back entertainers like ‘Bibaho Diaries’ and ‘Ghore and Baire’, director Mainak Bhaumik is back again with his next project titled Happy Pill. Starring Ritwick Chakraborty, Parno Mittra, Sohini Sarkar, and Mir the movie is basically a social satire with oodles of fun elements in it.
Ritwick here essays the role of a brilliant medical student-Siddhartha whose education comes to a standstill owing to severe financial constraints. A sad and dejected man now, he gradually realizes that there are millions of morose and disoriented people around him and no one is actually truly ‘happy’! With his academic brilliance and experimental acumen; one day, he discovers a pill which will eliminate grief. The same becomes a success instantly and creates a huge furore.
The film will showcase Parno in a fully deglam avatar belonging to a poverty-stricken middle class family. Rini portrayed by Parno is Ritwick’s younger sister who is always low considering her not so pretty looks. She suffers from major under confidence which has perpetually evaded all happiness from her life.
Sohini and Mir’s portrayals are also very intriguing with both the characters – Indrani and Pochada respectively having not so happy lives and having something or the other continually bothering them. Indrani suffers from major self doubt and is alarmingly afraid of her boss. Pochada on the other is a man who has a failed business and therefore not having ‘life’ beaming at him.
Will Siddhartha’s ‘happy pill’ succeed in evading the
agony of these individuals and bring back happiness in their lives? Produced by Camellia Productions this forms the main core of the story and you have to watch the social parody to know the answer.
Savvy has been at the helm of music for ‘Happy Pill’ which is eyeing a July release.
