Reunion as the word suggests denotes unison, reconciliation or homecoming among friends or loved ones. It holds a nostalgic and a special place in each of our hearts.
T-town director Murari M Rakshit has been toying up with this idea for long and have recently announced a film which revolves around the said subject only. The movie deals with reunion of life, humanity and overall friendship and how a social get-together succeeds in bringing back one of the central characters of the film into the mainstream of life and civilization.
The film boasts of an august cast viz, Parambrata Chatterjee, Raima Sen, Saayoni Ghosh, Indrasish Roy, Samadarshi Dutta, Anindita Bose, Sourav Das, Anindya Banerjee, Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Bharat Kaul.
Reunion speaks of how a group of friends were very close inspite of one set of friends (Param and Raima’s character) being senior to them. They used to share common interest and idealism and the same helped in building in the intimacy. The fun-filled college days were back in the set and the entire cast and crew have shared their vivid experiences of shooting the college life scenes which on its part have made them reminisce their own good old college days.
The story gradually progresses and unravels how after almost two decades a reunion has been planned at Kolkata where all the old pals assemble. With time, most of them are now in different parts of the world and have settled down; some even with their college life sweetheart, too. They start galloping from one topic to the other- starting from their old university/hostel days, significant events, political turbulence, conspiracies and many more things when suddenly somebody pops out the topic of the sudden disappearance of one of their loved senior member.
The narration culminates into how they get hold of him in a remote village of Darjeeling and discovers how he has dedicated his entire life into the wellbeing and development of the downtrodden in the hills. Sound familiar?? Well yes, we have seen Amir Khan’s Rancho trudging the same path in 3 Idiots. However in ‘Reunion’ the circumstances and the purpose are fully different!
The very talented and soulful musician Joy Sarkar is at the helm of the music for this social drama and the film is being produced by MMR Films. Saan, Nachiketa, Rupankar Bagchi, Rupam Islam, Shilajit Majumder, Timir Biswas, Joy Sarkar, Iman Chakraborty And Anima Roy have rendered their voices for various mesmerizing songs of the movie. Lyrics has been penned by Rajib Chakraborty.
The movie is also making the rounds for bringing back our very own and loved Param and Raima pair back in the silver screen after two years and just like their previous screen outings, this time also undoubtedly they will set the screen on fire.
