Despite so much happening in Indian Cinema, the contribution of Hiralal Sen has not got full recognition. He was the first individual to have made a full-length film Alibaba o Challis Chor in 1904. To make the people aware of the contribution of this great individual, Arun Roy is directing a film titled Hiralal which is based on the life of Hiralal Sen. He has directed films like Egaro and Cholai earlier. The director along with Sounav Basu and Rudrarup Mukherjee has worked three years on doing research on Hiralal Sen. This is simply because not much details about the man and his works are available anywhere. The director actually wanted to make the people aware of his contributions to Bengali as well as Indian cinema.
Many important personalities of Bengal will be shown in this upcoming Bengali film. Kharaj Mukherjee will be seen in the role of Girishchandra. Saswata Chatterjee and Shankar Chakraborty will also be seen in pivotal roles. However, the actor who will essay out the role of Hiralal has not been finalized yet. The shooting is already in progress from 7th January. The shooting will be done in places like Belgachia Rajbari, Lahabari, Titagarh Jutemill, Phalta and Murshidabad etc. These kind of biopics are certainly not new to Bengali cinema but this time it will be a real joy to watch as all these creative personalities are working hard for the movie.
