It has been a passion project for late Gulshan Kumar’s son, Bhushan Kumar, to make the film on the life of his father and T-Series’ founder, who was murdered in broad daylight. However, ever since the biopic on the music baron was announced, it hogged the limelight for all the wrong reasons. Rumors were rife that Akshay Kumar was roped in to play the lead role. But there was no development on the subject later. Apparently, then the project Mogul was passed on to Aamir Khan, who rather came on board as joint producer and not as the lead actor.
The actor began his banner, Aamir Khan Productions, in 1999 with Lagaan (2001), which became only the third Indian film to be nominated for the Best Foreign Language film at the Academy Awards. Since then, he has produced films like Taare Zameen Par (2007), Peepli Live (2010), Delhi Belly (2011), Dangal (2016), and Secret Superstar (2017). Writer-director Subhash Kapoor has been handed the opportunity to make this film. Kapoor made his directorial debut with Say Salaam India (2007) and is known for his legal satires, Jolly LLB (2013) and Jolly LLB 2 (2017).
Mogul will trace the most legendary personality of bollywood late Gulshan Kumar’s inspiring journey from a fruit juice vendor to the owner of one of the biggest music labels in the country. It is a classic underdog story which will be unveiled on Christmas 2019’s eve.
